The Masai Mara and Amboseli are the most renowned parks in Kenya and build together with the Great Rift Valley lakes, makes a very diverse safari combination. The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves and is known for excellent big game safari. Amboseli is famous for its high elephant population and the background of Kilimanjaro while Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha for black rhino, flamingos and general birdlife.

Day by Day Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Pick-up from Nairobi in the morning and drive to the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve which is seen by many as the jewel of Kenya’s national parks and reserves. Arrive at your camp for lunch followed by a short rest. In the afternoon head out for an afternoon safari drive in search of the Big five e.g. Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo and other lesser species including antelopes, gazelles, zebras, giraffes and wildebeests. Once you return to camp, supper will be served.

Day 2

Masai Mara National Reserve

Morning breakfast at the camp after which you will head out with picnic lunch boxes and spend the day in the reserve exploring and experience nature in its raw form. The landscape is breathtaking with its network of roads specially constructed for game viewing. Break for lunch at a picnic site then continue spotting wild animals until early evening when you return to the camp.

Day 3

Masai Mara National Reserve to Lake Naivasha

Early morning safari drive. After breakfast depart for Lake Naivasha to arrive for lunch. In the afternoon proceed to the Lake Naivasha for a boat ride and on to crescent Island for bird watching and a brief walking safari among the wildlife. The shores host abundant birdlife including pelicans, cormorants and fish-eagles with their haunting cry.

Day 4

Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, depart for Amboseli, arriving in time for lunch. The park is beautifully situated beneath the foot of Africa’s highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli has large herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, giraffes, lions, and a variety of other animals and birds all of which are attracted to this park due to its permanent supply of water that filters through the volcanic rock from Mt. Kilimanjaro melting snow. Arrive for lunch at your lodge and have a short rest. Thereafter depart for an afternoon safari until sunset.

Day 5

Amboseli National Park

Rise early for a good view of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. Have an early morning safari drive then return to the lodge for late breakfast. Mid-morning will be spent at leisure and lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon head out for an afternoon safari drive and start spotting wild animals and you can also visit a Maasai village to learn more about their culture and their ways of life, at an extra cost. In the evening return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 6

Amboseli National Park to Nairobi

Early morning safari drive. After breakfast depart for Nairobi where your safari ends with drop off at your Nairobi Hotel or the airport.
